My Health, My Food

My Health, My Food

Have you ever wondered why unhealthy food taste better than healthy ones?  I mean just try comparing the taste of sugar cookies to broccoli. :). Yet medical research, time and experience has shown us the food we eat has a direct link to our health.

Here is what I’ve come to realize, our state of health and they type of food we should or should not eat is unique to us as individuals. This is one of the situations where “what is good for the goose is sauce for the gander” is not applicable.

While it is generally believed that we all need to eat certain types of food to keep us healthy, it is also true that some healthy foods might be bad for others. I remember as a teenager, I became ill for few weeks and the doctor recommended a diet of eggs,  milk, and chicken for me. I can’t remember what the diagnoses was, but I remember my parents made absolute sure I got a daily overdose of eggs and chicken.

And even thought that diet was good for me back then, when I check my health stats these days, I’ve been advised to stay away from some of those same foods.

So, all am saying is, get your annual/routine check-ups done, be conscious of your age, and current state of health; and let that guide the direction of your diet. Who knows, you might just need to eat much of what you’ve been leaving out of your diet, or eat little of what you’ve regarded as a healthy food.

Be aware, be conscious, be informed!
